Straw's "have-a-go" protection idea

A lot has been made about Jacl Straw's backing, and supposed support for "have-a-go heroes" this morning. But when I looked at the proposals, I couldn't see ANY change of wording to the current law whatsoever! But, his entire porosal seems to revolve around the idea that the public doesn't get involved in stopping crime as we are too scared to.

Although, this point wasn't picked up on that much. In fact, the only thing that Sky News seemed to make an issue of over this was Jack Straw's own have a go past, in which he has stepped in on four occasions. However, what is noticable is that these four occasions were all before Labour came to power, and the "criminal is the victim" loony left position that has infested this country ever since.

So what is it you are trying to tell us Jack, it was safer for you, yourself, to stop a crime taking place before Labour came to power?
